FAQs

How will I receive updates about my dog?

All bookings include photos and short written notes of your dog’s activities. Videos, photos and notes will be provided for Day Care and Overnight Care bookings, so you can see them comfortable and having lots of fun. Occasional videos will be provided for Dog Walks and Welfare Visits.

How does the booking process work?

Booking is quick and easy. First, reach out to me using my contact form, where you can detail important information about your dog such as their breed, age, medical health, vet details, and temperament.

Then, select which service(s) you need including the option to request a regular, repeat booking slot for your loved one. Please note that Day Care and Overnight Care bookings usually require an in person meet and greet.

I aim to be in touch within 24 hours and will ask you any additional questions if needed. Bookings are secured with a deposit via bank transfer and once all is confirmed, kick back and relax, and I’ll take care of the rest!

What is your experience with dogs?

Dogs have been a part of my life for over a decade, beginning with my first family dog - a Jack Russel named Mitsy. Since then, I have owned three dogs ranging from Timmy the Yorkie, to a Cavapoo named Archie, and now my senior Bichon Frise, Fluffy!

This sparked my passion for providing quality care to dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages and backgrounds, resulting in dog sitting part time for several years prior to launching Delightful Dogs.

While your dog is in my care, I will take every precaution to ensure their safety.

I make an effort to really understand each individual dog’s personality, ensuring their comfort and happiness during their time with me.

What if I’m running late to get my dog?

A 10 minute grace period applies for all Day Care and Overnight Care bookings. Any additional time is chargeable by a half hour or hourly rate.

How many dogs do walk at once?

I operate in small groups of up to 4 dogs with similar temperaments. I always strive to ensure that each dog is comfortable and happy spending time together, and never force dogs to interact with one another. I also offer individual care for dogs who need special attention, such as those with medical conditions or behavioural challenges.

I have a reactive dog or a rescue - will this be okay?

I welcome dogs of all backgrounds, and have worked with several dogs of large breeds who were rescued and can be reactive to people and other dogs.

To assess your dog’s suitability, I require a booked 1 hour walk or in person meet and greet to meet and walk/ observe your dog together. This allows us time to discuss your dog’s history, temperament and needs, and for me to assess and establish an initial connection with your dog.

What happens if my dog is sick?

If your loved one is unfortunately unwell, please contact me to cancel your booking slot. Your deposit may be refunded depending on the notice period for each booking type. This is 48 hours for Dog Walks and Welfare Visits, and 72 hours for Day Care and Overnight Care.

To ensure the safety of other dogs, I am unable to provide services to a dog who is behind on vaccinations or unwell shortly prior to the booked service(s). In the unlikely event your dog becomes unwell during a booked service, I will immediately contact you. In case of an emergency situation, your dog would be taken to the nearest emergency vet and you’d be immediately notified to create a plan of action.

What happens if the weather is bad?

I will always aim to walk your dog at the scheduled time. However, if the weather is particularly bad, I will be in touch to reschedule your dog’s walk for a suitable time where possible on the same day, otherwise the time would be spent as a check in on the same day.

Booking and Cancellation Policy, Holidays:

A 50% deposit is required via bank transfer to secure your slot.

Please note that deposits will only be refunded if cancelled with 7 days’ notice for reoccurring regular bookings.

Otherwise, a cancellation policy of 48 hours for Dog Walks and Welfare Visits, and 72 hours for Day Care and Overnight Care applies for irregular bookings.

A longer cancellation period may apply to bookings with several nights of Overnight Care (eg. for a holiday).
